It has been over a year since the Corona crisis hit us as a country. Something that was quite manageable at the beginning of last year, but which is becoming more and more difficult. The Netherlands is ‘Corona tired’, but we have to hold on.
Despite the crisis, our company is doing well and we are very proud of our employees! To reward their efforts, a food truck was “driven in” to have lunch in the afternoon. The employees could choose from delicious food including various wraps, pulled pork sandwiches and fries.
Unfortunately, no team events can take place for the time being. The food truck ensured that we had a delicious meal in a safe and responsible manner!
A new year full of oppurtunities and challenges.
This year has started well for Snijders Ingenieursgroep. And again we can work on new and challenging projects. Below is an overview of projects on which we have started with the engineering of the prefab concrete elements.
Fibonacci te Amsterdam
In Amsterdam East, the preparations have started for the construction of the residential tower “Fibonacci”. This residential tower, with partly 18, 9 and 5 building layers, containing a total of 243 apartments. The residential building has roof gardens, meeting rooms, bicycle parking and compact parking facilities.
De Hoge Vrijheid te Den Haag
Hoge Vrijheid is a unique project in the Netherlands where, for the first time, it is possible to compose facade and living area yourself in a residential building of 70 meters high. The sensational tower with 132 homes, consisting of apartments and penthouses ranging from 50m2 to more than 130m2 and it will be located in the most beautiful spot on the Petroleumhaven in The Hague. There is either an unobstructed view of the sea or of the inner city skyline.
Het Bosbad te Eindhoven
Bosbad will be realized in the Meerhoven district as part of Bosrijk. Sustainability, spatial quality and high-profile architecture are central here. Living in Bosrijk is special, all projects in this part of the neighborhood are designed as “sculptures in a sculpture garden”, whereby the houses are fitted into the existing landscape as sculptures. The green space around the houses are in fact the garden of the residents.
Nieuw Delft veld 2.2 en 2.4 te Delft
Large townhouses and a small-scale apartment complex are being built on fields 2.2 and 2.4 in Nieuw Delft. These fields are close to the old town and the train station. A unique location in Delft on the Westvest and “De Kolk.
131 Appartementen Silva te Haarlem
131 rental homes are being built in the new development area Schalkwijk-middle. In addition to 2- and 3-room rental apartments, there will also be a bicycle parking, office spaces on the ground floor and an underground parking garage. The area is easily accessible by public transport and is within walking distance of the Schalkwijk shopping center, which will be extensively renovated in the coming years into a modern and attractive city district center.
On the 21st of September a few engineers from Snijders Ingenieursgroep had a guided tour at the project “Stedelijk College” in Eindhoven. Snijders Ingenieursgroep is responsible for the engineering of the prefab concrete frame with detailing. Our colleagues had a fun and educational day where they saw their designs realized.
On the first of november 2019 Snijders has celebrated the milestone of 40 years existence of the company. In 1979 Adviesburo voor Bouwkonstrukties Ing. L. Snijders was established by Leo Snijders from his attic. Now, 40 years later, it has grown into an engineering office specialised in engineering (mainly) precast concrete constructions. A team of 60 engineers divided over locations Veldhoven (NL) and Valencia (ES) work daily on challenging projects in the Netherlands and Europe.
The 40 years milestone of Snijders has been celebrated with a visit to Valencia in september, a reception with tapas in the office in Veldhoven with a speciale surprise… A T-Ford car with the Snijders name and logo hand painted!
The T-Ford is a symbol for the thinking and acting according to the T-model, one of the most important starting points in the process management of Snijders Ingenieursgroep. The letter T is also the foundation of the Snijders motto: QualiTy, on Time, within the set Time!
Check out the T-Ford in this video.
On to the next anniversary!
In the past 7 years Tekla’s developer Trimble has organised an annual Precast Study Trip with the purpose for companies in the precast industry worldwide to get acquainted with leading companies in the European precast industry.
This year Norway, Belgium and The Netherlands were the destinations. In these countries leading precast companies were asked to host a meeting. Construsoft, Trimbles partner in The Netherlands for facilitating and supporting Tekla, has asked Snijders Ingenieursgroep to give a presentation to 30 participants from 7 different countries.
Curro Verhagen gave an introduction about Snijders Ingenieursgroep (Veldhoven) and Snijders Engineering Group (Valencia) after which Hein Moors showed how Snijders works with Tekla: how do we model in Tekla and how detailed are the projects being worked out. To illustrate this, the beautiful project Good Luck Hope was presented, which Snijders Ingenieursgroep is modeling in Tekla commissioned by Byldis. For the participants a striking example because after the presentation a visit to the Byldis factory was planned.
It was an educational morning, thanks to Trimble, Construsoft and all the participants. A good confirmation that Snijders Ingenieursgroep belongs to the top leaders in the precast industry!
the province Zeeland is currently facing a challenge. There is a big shortage of employees in different work areas. The municipality Hulst has joined forces with different businesses to address this challenge.
From this a collaboration has emerged with Valencia (Spain) where the unemployment is still very high. The collaboration between Valencia and Hulst is focused on sharing each others knowledge and experience regarding the job market. International Job Challenge has brought both municipalities together.
On tuesday August 27th a delegation of businesses from Zeeland and the municipality of Hulst have visited the office in Valencia. During this meeting director Curro Verhagen explained why the choice was made to open a location in Valencia and how Snijders Group has made this happen. There also has been spoken about possibilities to increase the co-operation in the future. The organisation Tragel is going to use this collaboration by recruiting nurses in Valencia through International Job Challange. Tragel considers their new colleagues from Valencia as the new residents of the municipality Hulst.
The meeting has also been valuable for Snijders Engineering Group in making contact with the local governements and in making an appointment for a further acquantance with 17 municipalities and businesses. These contacts are important for Snijders Engineering Group to intensify the contact with the local governement and to reinforce the connection with Valencia.
The substantial expansion of Snijders Ingenieursgroep has not been unnoticed. Peter Scholtes from the local newspaper in Eindhoven (Eindhovens Dagblad) has approached Snijders for an interview with director Curro Verhagen. The page wide interview focuses mainly on the development of Snijders in Spain.
Curro Verhagen explains that due to the huge shortage in high quality Structural Engineers in The Netherlands Snijders has taken the step to open an office in Spain. The article also illustrates the activities of Snijders as an important and crucial link in (precast)construction and explains the collaboration with Stabiel Management, Bouwkenners.nl and International Job Challenge.
On behalf of Snijders Ingenieursgroep a big thank you to Peter Scholtes and Eindhovens Dagblad for the interest and the nice article!
